The Palomar Starlux 1540 Fractional laser is among the latest and greatest generation in skin resurfacing technology. Fine lines and wrinkles, acne and traumatic scars, sun or age spots, stretch marks, discoloration and some skin loosening are among the major conditions that benefit from this state-of-the-art treatment. And the procedure may be performed on most areas of the body including the face, neck, chest, arms and hands.

There is no downtime and lengthy recovery period that is associated with other skin resurfacing methods. And the beams penetrate deeper into the dermis level of the skin, for longer-lasting results. Finally, this non-ablative fractional method (not removing the top layer of skin) promotes quick healing in the dermis, while leaving the outer epidermis untouched.

How does the Starlux work?

In its simplest summary, the Starlux 1540 Fractional laser deposits hundreds of high precision microbeams that create narrow columns of clotting, or congealing, tissue and collagen, in the skin. This collagen and dead skin are removed as the skin is resurfaced and the body’s healing process begins.

New healthy tissue and collagen are formed. And once again, the process is performed deep in the dermis while the top layer of skin, or epidermis, is not affected. This results in faster healing and recovery.

It is important to note that because each Starlux 1540 session only treats 20 – 25% of the skin, leaving the surrounding skin to help fill in the treated area with new, younger-looking skin, a series of three to five sessions are required to achieve desired results. These sessions may be scheduled four to six weeks apart.

After the treatment, depending upon the intensity of the settings and the individual, there might be redness, warmth, swelling or tightness in the treated area. This usually fades within a few hours. A light pinkish tone may remain for 5 – 7 days. Due to the fast healing process, the most noticeable result will be the fabulous new skin tone and texture of your skin.
